dyeing
Traditional craft focused on the dyeing of textiles. On the territory of present-day Slovakia, dyers primarily specialized in the coloring of linen fabrics. The highest concentration of dyeing workshops was located in central and eastern Slovakia. The first dyers’ guild was established in 1608 in the town of Levoča. Its members included master dyers from several towns in the Spiš region as well as from central and eastern Slovakia. The Levoča guild was considered to have authority across the entire Austro-Hungarian Empire
