tufting

Textile technique in which yarn is inserted by hand into a base fabric using a manual tufting tool or tufting needle. It is used to create rugs, wall decorations, and textile artworks without the need for electricity. The base fabric is stretched on a frame, the design is transferred onto the surface, and the yarn is repeatedly pushed through the fabric to form loops or pile. The reverse side is later fixed with adhesive, and the edges are finished.
