Art Protis – a unique Czechoslovak textile technique developed in the 1960s at the Wool Research Institute in Brno and patented in 1968. It combines artistic principles of painting with nonwoven textile technology. Colored wool fleece and other materials are arranged on a textile base and mechanically fixed by stitching, interlacing, or needling, often using a Maliwatt machine with a zigzag stitch.
