Walachian

It originates from the traditional Slovak sheep breed Valaška, one of the oldest and most resilient breeds raised in the mountainous and foothill regions of Slovakia. This wool is characterized by its long, coarse, and strong structure—a fibre bundle has a triangular shape and consists of long, firm, non-crimped outer hairs and a shorter, finer undercoat. Due to its coarseness and mixed character, it is highly resistant to wear and suitable for traditional products such as blankets, carpets, felted goods, broadcloth weaving, and hand knitting. It occurs in white, grey, grey-brown, and black shades.
